Havelberg (ans) l Saturday evening in Havelberg, a perfect spring day is coming to an end and then he cycles up. Sebastian Krämer, the high priest of subversive humor, arrives at the KunstQuartier of the Arthotel by train and bicycle, just as he did on his first visit in 2017. He hurries light-footedly into the hall, plucks at the grand piano, adjusts the lighting and makes himself at home. And off he goes.
An evening of clever irony, elegiac joy and amused lamentation unfolds here. Sebastian Krämer doesn't just have Kafka on his list, he also sings about Spitzweg's poor poet and Barlach's book reader, about Puppi-Duppi, who spent the night in the garden, and about Dolores, the witch from the darknet. The audience hangs on his lips so as not to miss a single word, no matter how absurd the context, no punch line; indeed, so as to be able to follow at all. Because here is someone singing and reading who would have driven his (German) teachers to despair back in his school days, and with full intent and great mastery. The „Essay on Kafka's Legacy“ makes the audience break out in a cold sweat as they continue to laugh. At the special request of five-year-old Alma, „My Brother“, a declaration of love of a very special kind, is a conciliatory and understated finale.
Long applause and cheers close the evening and Krämer has to hurry to catch the last train to Berlin with his bike.
Eckhardt von Hirschhausen places Sebastian Krämer alongside Ringelnatz, Morgenstern and Georg Kreißler and says: "Happy is he who recognizes such talent in his lifetime.
The talent of the makers of the KunstQuartier lies in bringing such artists to Havelberg. A third concert with Sebastian Krämer is planned, announces hotel manager Renate Lewerken, while also looking ahead to the next guest, who is already a permanent fixture at the KunstQuartier: literary critic Denis Scheck. After scrapping his originally planned appearance in Havelberg in March, he is now promising an enjoyable reading evening on Saturday, May 12 under the motto „Read & let read - novels & non-fiction under the microscope“. Tickets are available on 039387/59 51 51.
On Lord's Day, May 10, „The Aberlour's“ will be back in the Lindenpark at the Arthotel. They will be playing folk rock and Celtic beats from 3 to 6 pm. Admission is free.
