Mozart on his journey to Paris
Reading by Alexander Netschajew with musical accompaniment
At the age of 21, the young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart leaves his hometown of Salzburg with his mother, without his father for the first time. In Paris, he is supposed to achieve fame, fortune, and honor. But the trip turns out to be a financial and personal disaster. The inexperienced Mozart befriends the wrong people and falls in love with the wrong girls, while his father Leopold advises, pleads, and threatens him in letters.
Artistic director Alexander Netschajew reads from the fascinating letters exchanged between father and son between 1777 and 1779, recounting a bizarre and dramatic generational conflict that still resonates today.
