The Aberlours - History
On the evening of a gloomy November day in 1998, the frontman of the medieval folk rock band »Horch«, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Klaus Adolphi and speed fiddler Steffen Knaul met in the only store open at the time in Halle's Geiststraße - the »Connoisseur« (Whisky & Cigars) - in search of warming drinks for the approaching winter. The seventh variety sampled that evening was ABERLOUR, a Scottish Highland single malt.
Barely three months later, The ABERLOUR'S gave their first concert - in the minimal version as a duo. After another four months, they played as a trio with Meff Schimetzek on drums as support for Jethro Tull on the Naturbühne Steinbach-Langenbach - in front of 4000 cheering (Jethro Tull!) fans. One year later, the debut album »Waiting for Noah« was released and the first 100 concerts were completed - from small clubs to large festival stages. There are now four more CDs - »Rich and Rambling«, »The huns are coming«, »Save the last drop« and »Dayoodlo«. As well as a live DVD.
