In the early 1980s, Andreas Lewerken moved to the Altmark - to the „Kiebitzberg“, a secluded farmstead near Havelberg. Here, in the middle of a vast landscape, an idea was born that would have an impact far beyond the region.
Under the name „Wooden toys from the Kiebitzberg“ he founds a workshop for therapeutic and educational wooden toys. With a great deal of craftsmanship, creativity and pedagogical understanding, he creates toys that not only bring joy, but also specifically promote children's development.
Remarkable for this time: the young company already had its own brand identity early on. A logo with the lapwing is developed and a catalog is designed - a clear expression of professionalism and vision.
The imaginative woodwork quickly found its way into the galleries of the GDR and enjoyed great popularity. Quality, naturalness and loving design characterize the products.
Soon Renate Lewerken was also working full-time in the workshop. The company becomes a real family business: the children Florian and Agnes-Josephine also grow up with the daily workshop routine and experience from an early age what it means to design with passion and care.
