Along the river.

Island, cathedral & Hanseatic town – in the heart of the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve, one of Germany's most expansive river landscapes.

The Havel

Our mountains are made of water.

Others head for the mountains — we have the Havel. One of Germany's most unspoilt river landscapes begins right outside our door: wide meadows, still backwaters, sky all the way to the horizon. Embedded in the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve and in the "Blaues Band" water-tourism project.

You'll experience it best from the water. Through the old railway embankment below the guest house you reach our own jetty — and our solar boat, which needs no boat licence, glides out quietly.

The Elbe-Havel corner

Nature that is still just that.

Water, woods, meadows and fields, and among them the forest-rich Kamern Hills: the Elbe-Havel corner is home to countless bird species and to the now rare Elbe beavers and otters. In spring and autumn, wild geese rest here in their thousands.

Numerous walking and cycle paths lead through wet meadows and along the dykes — and Germany's most stork-rich village, Rühstädt, lies just a bike ride away. Breathe deeply, look far, come to rest.

Different at every turn

Havelberg through the seasons.

Wild geese in spring, long days on the water in summer, golden light and the horse market in autumn, sauna and Advent in winter — whenever you come, it's never the same. We'll show you what's worth seeing, and when.
